At the present time, (November, 2004) we have just returned from
a trip to Liberia where a Civil War has impacted that nation and
left tens of thousands without homes. Many villages have been destroyed.
Children have been left as orphans. Medical care and training is
extremely limited. Supplies and equipment for the most basic medical
procedures are at a premium. Schools are without books or curriculum.
Many of the children have been orphaned and some of the girls have
become mothers while still little girls themselves due to the abuses
of a land devastated by war and left without moral and ethical stability.
They are, even now, trying to disarm all of the warring factions
(with the aid of the United Nations) so that life can assume a semblance
of normalcy for the millions of people who are seeking and longing
for peace.

Terri Stearns-Walker,
Benita Bobo-Jones, Doris Johnson, Alisia Rice and Anita Blackwell
On our recent trip to Liberia, Pastor Bobo was accompanied by:
Alisia Rice, a working mother with a passion for children who are
at risk; Anita Blackwell, a nurse practioner who specializes in
pediatrics and hematology, Benita Jones, a nurse and midwife; Theresa
Stearns-Walker, a nurse anesthetist; and Doris Johnson, a recently
retired school principal. These women made assessments of the situation
and have returned to the USA with a determination to make a difference.
