| Out
of Nothing...(ex nihilio) God Created |
God makes man in is image, which means we
reflect His character. One way we reflect God's character
is when we utilize our ability to create. We take what God
has provided and with our God given intellect, transform it
into something new and creative for our benefit, (and at times
to our detriment).
In Genesis 1, the word used for create is bara, refering
to what God does. He does this ex nihilio, or out
of nothing. Tthe word refering to man making or forming
is asah or yatsar, meaning out of something
we reshape or transform it into something else.
No matter how proud we are of our creative
moments, we must humbly submit to the ultimate creator who
has provided all the tools and materials necessary for us
to reflect His creative character. Even our "original"
thoughts are generated from nothingness by God, who then transfers
it by His Spirit to us. We cannot "bara" anything!
We can only change, transform or reshape what is already there.
It is our privledge and duty, therefore, to recognize and
praise our Creator for His infinite wisdom in taking nothing
(like us) and making something out of it. "And
He saw that it was good." -end
